Initially launched as CBS All Access in 2014, the service officially rebranded as Paramount Plus in 2021. Similar to other OTT services, Paramount Plus also offers a wide variety of original shows and movies. The service can be used with the purchase of either an Essential plan or a Premium Plan.

What is Paramount Plus?
Paramount Plus is a streaming service similar to other OTT services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Originally known as CBS All Access, the rebranding allowed for a huge spike in the streaming platform’s subscribers.
Currently, Paramount Plus offers two types of subscription plans for its users:
- Essential Plan: $4.99 per month, with limited commercial interruptions and does not include the user’s local live CBS station.
- Premium Plan: $9.99 per month, with no ads and includes the user’s local live CBS station.
How to Download Paramount Plus Movies or Shows for Offline Viewing?
Downloading movies and shows for offline viewing on Paramount Plus is extremely easy! All you need to do is follow the steps given below.
- Open the Paramount Plus app
- Search/browse for the show or movie you want to download and click on it
- Press the download button next to the episode or movie you wish to see
- Make sure to not exit out of the app, otherwise downloading will be paused
- Press the ‘More’ menu button and then click on ‘Downloads’
- All your downloaded content will appear here, click on any video to watch it.
How to Download the Paramount Plus App?
As of now, the Paramount Plus app is only available on an iPhone, iPad and Android. If you own any devices other than these, then perhaps Paramount Plus isn’t for you.

Download Limits on Paramount Plus
It may come as a surprise, but Paramount Plus has a lot of limits when it comes to downloading content for offline viewing. For example, downloading on mobile requires a device that is running at least iOS 13 or Android 5.0.
Moreover, downloaded content stays on your device for only 30 days unless you choose to delete it yourself. Once a user begins to watch a video, the video will have 48 hours before it is no longer available to be watched (you can re-download the video if you want to continue watching it).
Lastly, one device can’t store more than 25 downloads at a time.
How to Fix Download Issues on Paramount Plus?
One of the biggest reasons behind such issues is outdated software. Thus make sure that your device is of the right version. However, if the problem continues to appear, try updating the Paramount Plus app.
If the error ‘not enough storage’ pops up, try deleting other downloaded content on your device. This will increase the storage on your device and you will be able to download the video of your choice.
In order to delete a downloaded title, firstly go to the More tab. Then click on Downloads and find the video you wish to delete. Proceed by swiping left on your selected title and then click the delete icon.
What are the Advantages of Offline Viewing?
In order to watch content on Paramount Plus comfortably, a minimum internet speed of 4 MBps is required. However, it’s inevitable for Internet connection to weaken at times. This makes offline viewing the perfect solution.
Whenever the internet isn’t working properly, content can simply be downloaded instead. This would remove the need for any type of buffering or loading while the video is being watched and provide a more seamless viewing experience.
What Content is Available on Paramount Plus?
Paramount Plus offers many different types of genres to its users when it comes to video streaming. This includes originals and news/sports/family shows.
Popular shows like iCarly and 1883 are a part of the original lineup. The app also shows content from the NFL and the UEFA Champions League. Additionally, shows like Kamp Koral: Spongebob’s Under Years, and Star Trek: Prodigy, are also available as a part of the family content.
Paramount Plus also offers many of its great classics, and although most of that content can be watched. Not all can actually be downloaded. The way to identify this difference is with the help of a downward pointing arrow. If it is visible, then that means the selected video can be downloaded.
However, if the arrow is not present next to a show/movie, then that indicates the unavailability of its download. Regardless, Paramount Plus does allow for its top streamed content to be downloaded. For example, Paramount originals such as Star Trek: Picard and The Good Fight.
